Yelping Dog, Storm Wreaks Havoc & More: Police Blotter

The following information was supplied by the North Canton Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A complaint was received 1:26 a.m. Thursday of a “yelping” dog in the 1100 block of Sunford Ave. When police arrived, however, they said they couldn’t hear the dog over the storm, so they said they would check back.

Storm wreaks havoc for area businesses

Several area businesses reported a lightning strike in the area Thursday morning about 1:45 a.m. that apparently affected

Homeless man seeks shelter in storm

In the midst of Thursday morning’s storm, police discovered
a homeless man seeking shelter in the 1300 block of Main Street. The man was said to have Florida identification, though he didn’t have it with him. He was taken to a crisis center for temporary housing.

Shoplifters arrested at Marc’s

Two Akron women were arrested Wednesday afternoon at
and charged with petty theft. Police responded to store management who had the shoplifters in their custody.

Car stolen from parking lot on Main Street

A white Chrystler Sebring was stolen from the parking lot of
Great Clips at 1593 N. Main Street some time between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. Tuesday. The owner learned about the theft when a paramedic called her and told her that her car had been involved in an accident on Tuscarawas Street in Canton.

Income tax issues

On Tuesday, police were busy attempting to serve summonses
to 27 North Canton residents who have failed to pay income tax.
