Woman's Suspicions Save Her From Scam; Drunken Driver Lashes Out: Crime Blotter

The following was supplied by the North Canton Police Department. It does not indicate convictions.

Suspicious business practices

A North Canton woman was almost conned June 24 when she tried to claim a "free $100 gift card" from the Rewards CMS Company, according to a North Canton police report.

She called the business, offered some personal information, but became suspicious when an operator repeatedly asked for her credit card number. When she tried to cancel the reward offer, the company said it would fine her $67 to do so.

The woman called her bank and canceled her credit card.

When officers tried to call the suspicious company at 1-855-322-7078, they were transferred to multiple operators and hung up on.
