Teen Cited in Crash that Caused Car to Flip on Applegrove Street

North Canton police cited a 16-year-old North Canton girl for causing a crash Wednesday evening near Applegrove Street and Chatham Avenue

North Canton Police cited a 16-year-old girl for causing a crash near Applegrove Street and Chatham Avenue Wednesday evening. The crash caused one car to flip onto its side.

Police said today that Sarah Evans of North Canton was cited for failure to yield to a stop sign.

Evans was driving a 2003 Ford Explorer about just after 5:30 p.m. and stopped at a stop sign facing south. She told police she checked both ways before crossing Applegrove and was struck by a 2004 Kia Spectra, driven by Eleni Kourounis, 70, of North Canton. Kourounis had been driving through the 200 block of Applegrove Street.

Evans' SUV flipped onto its side upon impact, and when North Canton emergency responders arrived they took Kourounis to Aultman Hospital for possible injuries.

Neither had passengers in their cars.
