Suspected Murderer Seen Driving Car Stolen from North Canton

A 19-year-old was charged for stealing a North Canton car last week and is now wanted for murder.

Police are still searching for a 19-year-old Canton man suspected of shooting and killing an 18-year-old Friday night. 

Germaine Covington of Canton was charged with murder after the victim, Demarco Moore Jr., was shot several times in the chest, according to the Canton Repository. 

A week earlier, police said Covington was arrested after he was spotted driving a car reported stolen in North Canton, reports the newspaper. Police attempted to stop Covington when he jumped out of the car while it was still in drive and fled on foot, according to police. A prostitute that was in the car got behind the wheel and fled in the stolen vehicle. The car was later recovered in North Canton, police said. Covington was charged with charged with receiving stolen property and obstruction of official business and released. 

Authorities are now looking for Covington on the murder charge. Police describe the Covington as a blackman, 6-foot-1-inches tall, 165 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
