Suspected Drunken Driver Crashes in Police Department Lot, Walks Inside to Turn Himself In

The 29-year-old Canton man nearly crashed into the North Canton Police Department

A Canton man suspected of drunken driving didn't have to go far to turn himself in after crashing in the North Canton Police Department parking lot.

According to an incident report from the department, the 29-year-old man drove through the FirstMerit Bank parking lot about 1 a.m. Saturday and ran over the curb that separates that lot from City Hall's, 145 N. Main St. 

Then the man walked into the police department to report he had crashed his car and that he had been drinking.

The man was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence, a first-degree misdemeanor, and cited for driving in marked lanes, a minor misdemeanor.
