Suspected Drug Addict Chases Down Mother for Money: Crime Blotter

The following was obtained from North Canton police reports dated Feb. 14-21. It does not indicate convictions.

Unsavory behavior

A suspected drug addict was pulled over by North Canton police around 2:30 a.m. on Feb. 21 for reportedly stalking his 71-year-old mother and her friend.

According to the police report, his mother had just been picked up from Mercy Medical Center and arrived home to find her 43-year-old son parked near her residence.

She feared her son was going to demand money from her, so the pair headed toward the North Canton Police Department, with her son driving close behind.

The woman pulled into the department’s parking lot and blared the horn. Several police officers emerged from the department and were briefed by the women.

Police pulled the man over on South Main Street, and asked to search his vehicle for drugs. The man declined.

He was issued a warning and advised to stay away from his mother.

Seen my snowboard?

A man called police on Feb. 18 after a thief reportedly climbed through the rafters of his garage and stole a snowboard, a car battery jump kit, phone accessories and a radar detector from his car.

There are no leads or suspects in connection with the Wilbur Drive NE theft.

Suspected burglary

On Feb. 14 at 9:26 a.m., a woman living in the 200 block of Willaman Street NW alerted police after her door was reportedly pried open by a burglar.

Police advised the woman to search the home for stolen items and she reported that cash was missing.

The incident is under investigation.
