Suspect Escapes Through Cruiser Window, Hides in Home

An Alliance man slipped through an open police cruiser window and hid in a home before being arrested by Friday afternoon.

Here's the account police gave:

Officer John Hemric pulled over a black Chevrolet Monte Carlo for an equipment violation in the 1500 block of Salway Ave. SW just before 5 p.m. Friday. 

As Hemric searched the car for drugs, he had the driver, Nickoles Wiley Holly Jr., 21, of Alliance, detained in the back seat of his police cruiser.

During the search, Holly slipped through the open car window and escaped on foot. North Canton officers, along with a Canton police officer and his K-9 unit, searched for the suspect. A Stark County Sheriff's deputy also helped with the search because the suspect fled into Plain Township jurisdiction. 

Holly was found hiding in a residence in the 4100 block of Orchard Dale Drive NW, Canton. He was arrested without incident, and no injuries were reported.

Holly was taken to the Stark County Jail where he was booked on the following charges: obstruction of official business, a second-degree misdemeanor; illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia, a fourth-degree misdemeanor; open container, a second-degree misdemeanor; driving under suspension and a broken windshield.

Holly also was wanted by Alliance police for a first-degree misdemeanor petty theft charge.
