Smash-and-Grab Thief Wastes no Time; Joy Ride Ends in North Canton: Crime Blotter

A woman's purse was reportedly snatched from her car at about 3:30 p.m. on July 8 after it had been parked outside the YMCA Child Care Center for only a short period of time. 

According to police, a couple stopped inside the center to pick up their child and noticed their passenger side car window was smashed while on their way out.

The thief reportedly used one of the woman's credit cards after the theft.

North Canton detectives are investigating. No arrests were reported as of Tuesday afternoon.

Grand Theft Cavalier

Canton police reported a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier had been stolen on July 9, but luckily, it was found in the 100 block of Everhard Road just hours after the theft occurred, according to police. 

A woman living in a nearby apartment complex spotted the awkwardly parked car and called North Canton police. 

The Chevy will be returned to its rightful owner.
