Secret Shopper Scam, Car Break-Ins, Graffiti: Police Blotter

Hundreds of dollars in copper stolen from home

Someone broke into a home in the 300 block of Reed Avenue and stole copper pipes between 5:15 p.m. Oct. 27 and 1:53 p.m. Monday. Estimated loss is $1,730.

Burglary on Kandel Circle

Someone took a safe, papers, $5,580 in jewelry and other items from a home in the 100 block of Kandel Circle between 12:15 and 2 p.m. Oct. 20. Estimated loss is $7,495.

Drain grates stolen from KMart

Twelve drain grates were stolen from the loading dock of KMart, 1447 N. Main St. between noon Oct. 28 and 9 a.m. Wednesday. Estimated loss is $2,500.

Game system stolen from dentist's office

Someone stole an XBox 360 game system from the Agelopoulous dental office at 1177 S. Main St. between 6:15 p.m. Wednesday and 3:06 p.m. Thursday. Estimated loss is $600.

Resident scammed through secret shopper letter

A resident in the 1200 block of Lehigh Avenue received a letter to become a secret shopper, followed the letter's instructions (not knowing it was a scam) and got duped out of $1,850. 

Items stolen from cars

Someone took a microphone, head phones, cables and other items from a car parked in the 1100 block of North Main Street between 9 p.m. Monday and 11:10 a.m. Tuesday. Estimated loss is $130.

Someone cut a catalytic converter from a car parked in the lot of J&J Car and Truck Sales, 935 S. Main St., between noon Oct. 29 and 2:18 p.m. Estimated loss is $600.

An iPod adaptor and cell phone charger valued at $45 were stolen from a car in the 1500 block of Whittingham SE between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. Oct. 29.

Sugar poured in car's gas tank

Someone spray-painted a car in the 1100 block of North Main Street and poured sugar in its gas tank between 10:02 p.m. and 11:05 p.m. Tuesday. Another nearby car was scratched on its doors.

Graffiti

The exterior wall of a building in the 1000 block of South Main Street was spray-painted with the letters "PA" between 10 p.m. Oct. 27 and 7:30 a.m. Oct. 28.

Someone spray-painted graffiti on a storage shed in the 300 block of 7th Street NE between 5 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.
