Ron Mizner Steps Up as North Canton’s Newest Police Sergeant

The Hoover High School grad advances from patrolman to sergeant at the North Canton Police Department.

Once a participant in the Explorer program, an auxiliary officer and even a dispatcher, Ron Mizner now gets to take on a new role as sergeant at the .

made the announcement before Monday night’s North Canton City Council meeting, telling council members and the audience inside City Hall that Mizner has an impressive background and is ready to take on the new role.

Held said Mizner completed a political science degree while working at the North Canton Police Department.

“With Ron’s experience, he already understands the city of North Canton; he clearly understands the meaning of public service.”

Mizner started in the Explorer’s program in 1985, then became a dispatcher and moved on to become an officer in 1994. Held said that dispatching background helps Mizner better understand one more aspect of the department.

“I know the dispatchers also love having a sergeant that also served as a dispatcher because he knows where they are coming from,” Held said.
