A Canton man had a lot on the line when he decided to play hide-and-seek with Tuesday.
Police say two Canton men were inside the Verizon Wireless store at Washington Square — 1977 E. Maple St. — that afternoon and one left the store with a stolen cellphone.
A Verizon employee called the police at 3:40 p.m. while the suspect's friend remained inside the store. Police arrived and found keys on the seat of a car in the parking lot, a man hiding in the trunk and drug paraphernalia inside the car.
They arrested both men that day. The friend who remained inside the store was charged with complicity to commit theft, illegal use of drug paraphernalia, possession of a drug abuse instrument and obstructing official business.
The man police say stole the cellphone was charged with petty theft, possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal use of drug paraphernalia.
All were misdemeanor offenses.
