Preliminary Hearing Date Set for Giant Eagle Knife Suspect

Ronald E. Keen's pre-trial begins April 23.

The man accused of on at least one employee received a preliminary hearing date Tuesday morning in Canton Municipal Court.

Ronald E. Keen III, 21, of Canton, will return to court at 2 p.m. on April 23. He faces two felony charges — aggravated robbery and possession of heroin. If convicted, Keen faces up to 10 years for the robbery charge and a one-year maximum for heroin possession, according to the Stark County Common Pleas Court.

arrested Keen Saturday after he allegedly pulled a knife on an employee in front of the grocery store at 1955 E. Maple St. Police caught up to him in a yard within the 100 block of Bellview Street NE after he ran through the store parking lot.

Keen remains in Stark County Jail. Judge Mary A. Falvey set his bond at $100,000 cash or surety, along with court costs. The judge also ordered Keen to have no contact with his victims.

Keen is also being held on theft charges related to a March 20 incident in Massillon. His bond is $10,000 cash or surety in that case.
