Pot-Packed Care Bear Arrives on Man's Porch

A suspicious package that turned up at the home of a North Canton man contained a Care Bear filled with five pounds of marijuana

A Care Bear filled with about five pounds of pot arrived at a North Canton resident's home earlier this month.

The man, who lives in the 600 block of 6th Street NW, called police April 7 after opening up a suspicious package that was mailed to his house.

Inside was a yellow Care Bear (Funshine Bear, for those Care Bear know-it-alls out there) stuffed with a bag of marijuana, which police said weighed about five pounds.

Talk about pot-bellied.

Police classified the report as drug trafficking, a fourth-degree felony.

Sgt. John Minock said Thursday the department has nothing new to report on the case. He said the package was addressed to someone the man was unfamiliar with.

Marijuana is the safest drug with actual benefits for the user as opposed to alcohol which is dangerous, causes addiction, birth defects, and affects literally every organ in the body. Groups are organizing all over the country to speak their minds on reforming pot laws. I drew up a very cool poster featuring Uncle Willie Nelson and The Teapot Party for the cause which you can check out on my artist’s blog at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2011/01/vote-teapot-2011.html Drop in and let me know what you think!

Marijuana is a gateway drug and causes loss of short term memory. Those who smoke pot generally have no objection to using other drugs, perhaps far more dangerous drugs later on. Marijuana also reduces your inhibitions leading to immoral and often illegal behavior. It should NEVER be legalized!!!!!

I think that it is an injustice that people who more than likely take drugs that are far worse for you than thc and cbd judge those that use it. I can only hope that the same common sense that leads us to want to protect our people from harder drugs will prove to show that marijuana does just that....come on you we all know the REAL story about cannabis. If you dont you need to do a little more research and see the lives you judge as "immoral" before you talk like you know the truth. As far as it being a gateway drug?........the ignorance that can actually entertain this is the same one that thinks only their faith is the road to salvation. Not to mention the money problem it would fix in every state, with proper testing and regulation cannabis can cure so many things wrong with the human body it only stands to reason it was given to us from its creator!

It's only been illegal for about 75 years and was fine for thousands of years before. You really need to educate yourself about cannabis prohibition as well as true medical information about your "gateway" theory. If you follow gateway theory, you go from weed (Schedule 1 drugs, the worst catagory ) to apparently less harmful schedule 2 drugs like cocaine and morphine.... So by your logic someone could go from a drug that has proven medicinal value, no recorded deaths in history EVER, to one that is highly addictive and causes 3 times more deaths than any other illegal drug.... RIGHT.... so by that logic, we have got to stop using cough syrup or mouth wash, since they are gateway liquids to alcohol, which coincidently is addictive and abused quite often leading to death and other immeasurable harm and it's LEGAL... This is the USA, based on the very basic ideas of personal freedom. The freedom to choose for yourself what you will and won't do. I am sure you are not out stopping everyone from having a beer when they want one, and why should you as long as it doesn't affect you right, that is the whole basis of personal freedom. If someone does something that doesn't hurt anyone else, who are you to tell them that they can't do it? I bet you stuff your face with cheeseburgers every now and again, should I go and try to stop you from going to Burger King? See the stupidity in your logic?
