The following was supplied by the North Canton Police Department. It does not indicate convictions.

Smash and grab
On May 17 at 8:04 p.m., North Canton police pulled over a 54-year-old Sugarcreek man in the 100 block of Everhard Road SW and asked him to step out of his car.

When he refused, officers informed him he was under arrest for obstruction of official police business, according to a police report. They demanded he get out of the car, but again, he disobeyed their order.

In response, officers smashed out his driver's side window, pulled him out of the car and arrested him for obstruction and resisting arrest, both second-degree misdemeanors.

He was also cited for driving under suspension and having expired plates.

Suspected overdose
On May 16 at 7:56 p.m., officers found a 32-year-old North Canton man unconscious in a laundry mat restroom in the 1100 block of North Main Street.

The syringe the man reportedly used was found in a nearby trash can. He was arrested and charged with possession of drug abuse instruments, a first-degree misdemeanor.

North Canton police suspect the man overdosed on heroin, but are waiting on the Stark County Crime Lab for the official determination.
