Dishes, weed wacker stolen from unlocked garage
Items including a weed wacker and kitchen dish set were stolen from an unlocked garage in the 900 block of Portage Street NW between 12:30 and 5:25 a.m. Aug. 4. Estimated loss is $116.
Quarters, cellphone taken from car on Fairview Street

Someone stole 20 quarters and a cellphone from two cars in the 500 block of Fairview Street SE between 8:30 p.m. July 22 and 11:30 a.m. July 23.

Someone stole prescription medication valued at $300 from a car in the 1100 block of North Main Street between 9:30 a.m. July 27 and 9:15 a.m. July 28.
$760 in items stolen from Hoover High practice field
A Nike book bag containing an iPhone, inhalers and a digital watch was stolen from the practice field at Hoover High School, 525 7th St. NE, between 8:40 and 9:40 a.m. Monday. Estimated loss is $760.
Burglar abandons van after breaking into home
responded to a burglary in progress in the 1200 block of Salway Avenue SW about 10:20 a.m. Aug. 3. Police tried to stop the person as they drive away in a van. The van was found a short time later in a nearby wooded area. Nothing was reported stolen, according to the police report, but the burglar caused damage to a door lock.
'No parking' scratched into side of car
Someone scratched the phrase "no parking" into the side of a car that was parked in the 400 block of Rose Lane SE between 5 p.m. July 30 and 6 p.m. July 31. Estimated damage is $600.
Painkillers stolen from home on Summit Street
Thirty Vicodin pills valued at $10 were stolen from a home in the 600 block of Summit Street SE between 6 a.m. July 24 and 6 a.m. Aug. 1.
