Car not really stolen? Owner Admits to Misleading Police
The owner of a Chrysler Sebring that was reported stolen
last week from the Great Clips parking lot on Main Street turned herself in to on Tuesday for falsification of a police report. Andrea Griffith apparently knew the man who removed and later crashed her car. She admitted to misleading the
investigation. As a result, Griffith was arrested on falsification charges and police changed the case from auto theft to unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

On Aug. 28, around 11:30 p.m., police responded to a call in
the 1400 block of Ellesmere Avenue NW where someone reportedly shot the front window of a home. The homeowner’s brother chased the vehicle and was shot with a pellet as well. The victim reported shots came from a Ford Escape carrying two people who were later charged with assault and criminal damaging.

On Aug. 29, police received a report that playground equipment at had been damaged over the weekend. Someone had damaged the sliding board.
Give me your guitar, grandma!
A resident in the 600 block of McKinley Avenue SE reported her grandson showed up Wednesday around 1:30 p.m. and was threatening her over a guitar. The grandparents didn’t want to give up their guitar and called the police, who advised the 37-year-old man to pick up a pen and paper and write a letter to his grandmother, telling her if he went on her property again, he would be arrested for criminal trespassing. The man has a past record that involves arson charges.
Juveniles arrested for graffiti
On Wednesday, around 3 p.m., two juveniles were arrested on
criminal damaging charges for painting graffiti on a garage door on Baker Court behind Automotive Techniques. Both kids were released to parents with a promise to appear in court.
