Police Arrest Man They Say Stole Car and Broke Into Several Others

Justin Lee Rush, 22, of North Canton, has been arrested and taken to the Stark County Jail

have arrested a man they believe has broken into several cars in the city.

Officers responded to Beckford Place Apartments, 1113 N. Main St., about 1:45 a.m. today to investigate a suspicious person walking between cars in the parking lot. That's when they found Justin Lee Rush.

Through questioning, police learned Rush, 22, of North Canton, had warrants for his arrest for theft and criminal damaging and endangering through the North Canton Police Department and a warrant for disorderly conduct out of the Canton Police Department.

North Canton warrants stemmed from previous reports and investigations of damaging to and thefts of property from parked cars and a report filed involving a stolen car from the apartment complex. Police identified Rush as a suspect when one an officer obtained latent fingerprints recovered from the package of an iPhone case taken from one of the victims.

The latent print was submitted to the Stark County Crime Lab for an automated search for identifiable fingerprints in the Automated Palm/Fingerprint Identification System (APFIS) databases. The search results confirmed the latent prints belong to Rush.

He was booked into the Stark County Jail and charged with theft, a fifth-degree felony; criminal damaging or endangering, a second-degree misdemeanor; and disorderly conduct, a fourth-degree misdemeanor. Other criminal charges are pending as this investigation continues.
