Pedestrian Struck by Car on Elberta Avenue

North Canton police still are investigating the incident, which happened about 6 p.m. Monday

North Canton police are investigating a pedestrian-versus-car crash that happened about 6 p.m. Monday in the 1600 block of Elberta Avenue.

Mary Fickes, no age available, of Canton, was driving a 2000 Honda Accord south on Elberta Avenue when her car struck Daniel Baumel, 26, of Erie, PA. Baumel had been walking southbound on the side of the road on Elberta Avenue, said Sgt. Frank Kemp Jr.

Kemp said pedestrians should not be walking with traffic, but against traffic, to see oncoming cars.
