Park Avenue House Fire Causes $30,000 in Damages

The fire broke out at 1051 Park Ave. NE Thursday afternoon

North Canton fire officials are still working to determine the cause of a house fire at 1051 Park Ave. NE that broke out before 2 p.m. Thursday.

The North Canton Fire Department was dispatched at 1:57 p.m. to a report of a structure fire.

First-in crews discovered a working fire in the utility room extending into the attic area, according to a news release from the fire department. Crews quickly extinguished the fire, Chief John Bacon said in the release.

Fire damage was contained in the attic and utility room with smoke extension throughout the main level of the house. Residents Bonnie Stubblefield and her 3-year-old granddaughter were home at the time, and all escaped safely.

The North Canton Fire Department responded with two engines, one ladder truck, two ambulances and 20 personnel. Greentown Fire department assisted with one engine.

Damage is estimated at $30,000 to the structure and $30,000 to contents. The loss is insured.

Fire units returned to service by 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

The North Canton Fire Prevention Bureau has not determined the cause.
