Paranoid Schizophrenic Loses Control; Stolen Car Recovered: Crime Blotter

The following was obtained from North Canton police reports dated Feb. 11 and Feb. 15. It does not indicate convictions.

On Feb. 15, North Canton police responded to an apartment complex in the 1800 block of Beechwood Avenue NE after receiving multiple complaints of an ongoing disturbance.

As officers arrived on scene, they could hear a tenant – a reported paranoid schizophrenia – screaming and jumping around his apartment.

Officers tried to reason with the 41-year-old North Canton man, but he refused to open the door and started talking to himself.

According to the North Canton police report, officers were concerned the man posed a risk to himself and others, so they asked the building manager to unlock his door.

Once inside, police were able to persuade the man to voluntarily come with them.

He was taken to Aultman Hospital for treatment and further evaluation.

Dude, where's my car?

Police found a stolen car on Feb. 11 in the 800 block of Everhard Road SW after a resident complained that it was leaking gasoline in the street.

After running the license plate, police learned the Pontiac Vibe had been reported missing on Feb. 6 in Jackson Township, according to the police report. 

The car had sustained heavy damage, but still contained the owner’s purse and other personal items.

The car and its contents were returned to the owner who resides in Dover.
