Traffic Stop Nets Six Charges Against Three People
North Canton chief said one man led police on foot chase as another drove away from the scene.
A simple traffic stop by North Canton Police resulted in six charges being leveled against three people, including one who led police on a foot chase and another who drove away from the scene.
According to Chief Stephan Wilder, police stopped a Chevrolet Cavalier in the 300 block of Everhard Road S.W. at 3:47 p.m. Wednesday for multiple equipment violations.
Damon Stough, 34, of Akron, exited the car and was told by police to get back inside it, Wilder said. Stough then ran from police after being ordered to stop. Police chased him down on foot and caught him a short distance away.

“He said he ran from the police because he knew he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest from another county,” Wilder said.
Damon Stough was charged with obstructing official business, a second-degree misdemeanor.

The driver of the vehicle, Brandon Stough, 31, of 6661 Amsel N.E. in North Canton, was ordered by police to stay at the location where the car was stopped.
Wilder said when officers returned to the area after the foot chase, they discovered Brandon Stough had driven away from the scene.
“The driver … was later identified and turned himself in at the police department a short time later,” Wilder said. “Brandon was found to have a suspended license.”
He was charged with obstructing official business, a second-degree misdemeanor; driving under suspension, an unspecified charge; brake lights required and broken windshield/rearview mirror, both minor misdemeanors.
Vehicle owner Lynn Meyers, 37, also of 6661 Amsel N.E., was inside the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop. Wilder said she was found to have knowingly let an unlicensed driver operate her vehicle and was issued a citation for the charge, a first-degree misdemeanor
All three people were issued summons to appear in Canton Municipal Court and were released.
