One Dead in Car-vs.-Train Crash in Jackson Township

Jackson Township Fire Department has confirmed one fatality at the crash at Portage Street just west of Whipple Avenue

Jackson Township Fire Department dispatchers have confirmed one person is dead after a car collided with a Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad train at Portage Street NW just west of Whipple Avenue NW this morning.

Dispatchers say they aren't sure yet how or why the crash happened, but fire and police officials are at the scene working to determine that.

They received the call for service at 11:44 a.m. today.

No other injuries have been reported.

There were guards at this crossing and the train was moving much slower than most. Terrible to hear.

There was crossing where it happened they either ran through it or around it and I was just through there before it happened
