North Canton Police Blotter: 'Tequila for 2-Year-Old' Case Sent to Child Protective Services

Stark County Child Protective Services will handle a case in which a woman reportedly gave her son tequila to help him sleep

A North Canton woman's friend turned her in to the police after she reportedly gave her own 2-year-old son tequila to help him go to sleep.

The woman who reported the incident told police her friend gave the child a "small amount" of tequila in a shot glass and then a quarter of a shot glass inside a home in the 1000 block of Lois Avenue NW sometime in mid-May.

Police forwarded the case on to Stark County Child Protective Services.

$800 in batteries stolen

Someone stole four batteries from construction equipment at the intersection of Fair Oaks Avenue NW and Charlotte Street NW between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tuesday. Estimated loss is $800.

Reports of missing catalytic converters

Someone stole catalytic converters from two cars in the 600 block of South Main Street between midnight Jan. 1 and 4:18 p.m. June 10. Estimated loss is $1,000.

Police handled a similar case in the 4000 block of Portage Street. Someone had stolen a catalytic converter from a car between 5:55 p.m. June 7 and 4:40 p.m. June 9. Estimated loss is $600.

Purse snatched from 84-year-old woman

A woman snatched a purse from an 84-year-old Canton woman about 3:50 p.m. May 24 at the Washington Square , 1955 E. Maple Street. No arrests were made, according to the police report.
