North Canton Patrolman Receives Officer of the Year Award

North Canton Police Patrolman John R. Hemric was honored at the annual Crime Prevention Week Award Breakfast.

North Canton Police Patrolman John R. Hemric accepted the Community Police Officer of the Year Award Tuesday at the annual Crime Prevention Week Award Breakfast in Canton Township

The 12-year police veteran received the award after leading the department in criminal and juvenile arrests in 2012.

North Canton Police Chief Stephen B. Wilder told The Canton Repository that Hemric “has combined his training, knowledge of the law, and patrol tactics into a unique style, which helps him to exemplify the law enforcement expression of ‘looking beyond the stop.’ ”
