North Canton Police Blotter: Firefighters Use Jaws of Life to Free Wounded Deer

A North Canton police officer found a deer struggling to free itself from a hand railing in the 100 block of East Maple Street Monday

used the Jaws of Life to free a wounded deer from a hand railing at Schroyer Group Company in the 100 block of East Maple Street Monday.

A officer had found the deer near the building’s front entrance struggling to free itself from the vertical bars of the hand railing. The officer couldn’t get the deer removed after shooting it, so he called in the North Canton Fire Department to use the Jaws of Life about 7:50 a.m.

Shattered window while driving

A female driving near Wilkshire Circle SW and Everhard Road SW told police she heard something like a gunshot before the back window of her car shattered. The incident happened about 7 p.m. May 26.

Not going near that knife

A garbage man at a bus garage in the 300 block of Wise Avenue refused to empty a Dumpster before talking to police because a knife was lying beside the Dumpster. Police were called about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Goodwill vandalized

Someone spray-painted graffiti onto the building, 950 S. Main St., between 6:30 p.m. Monday and 7:45 a.m. Tuesday. Estimated damage is $500.

Threats accompanied by gun

A man in the 1300 block of Belair Drive NW told police his landlord came into his apartment with a gun and threatened him about 3:15 a.m. Friday. According to the police report, no one was injured or arrested.

Susanna’s target of breaking and entering

Someone broke into , 707 S. Main St., and stole $1,000 from the safe between 10:30 p.m. May 15 and 6:30 a.m. May 17.
