North Canton Fire Under Investigation

The North Canton Fire Department responded to a small blaze Wednesday morning in the 400 block of Emerson Avenue NW.

North Canton firefighters rushed to douse a fire that broke out at an unoccupied duplex Wednesday morning. 

The department was called to 441 Emerson Ave. NW at 5:55 a.m. and began extinguishing the fire that was burning in the first story living room and basement. 

According to North Canton Fire Chief John Bacon, the fire was under control within 15 minutes of the department's arrival. The second story sustained smoke and heat damage, and Bacon estimated the overall damage at about $60,000.

There were no injuries. 

"The North Canton Fire Department responded with two (fire) engines, one ladder truck and two rescue units with 19 fire department personnel," said Bacon in a prepared statement.

The Fire Prevention Bureau is investigating the cause of the fire.
