FBI, North Canton Police Raid Carnegie Career College Building

Reasons for raid at the college on West Maple Street this morning unknown

and FBI officials raided Carnegie Career College on West Maple Street this morning.

Police and FBI officials would not say why they raided the building or what they were looking for, saying releasing any information about what was happening at the career college branch could jeopardize months of investigation.

“We executed a search warrant at that college, and that’s about all I can tell you,” FBI Special Agent Scott Wilson said today.

Wilson said North Canton police officers aided in the search, and the investigation also included the Inspector General’s office as well as the U.S. Department of Education.

Police Chief Stephan Wilder said North Canton officers assisted with the investigation as well as the execution of search warrants for some items inside the building at 1320 W. Maple St.

“We’re continuing with any other investigative actions or procedures in assisting the FBI,” Wilder said.

He said he believes today’s raid resulted from just one phase of the investigation.

North Canton Patch aims to have a directory listing for each business and organization in the city; however, it could not create a listing for the Carnegie Career College campus because officials there did not return phone calls seeking information about the college in December 2010.
