Cleaned out

A 32-year-old North Canton woman, living in the 400 block of Weber Avenue NE, left her car unlocked on July 23 and paid the price.

A thief reportedly stole her laptop, iPod and Kindle Fire, valued at $1,700, from the car.

Police are investigating.

Conned

A 72-year-old North Canton man last over $1,000 when he was reportedly duped by a pair of con men from India.

According to the July 20 North Canton police report, the scam artists pretended to work for guru.com -- a legitimate freelancer-for-hire web page -- and were able to defraud the man via Western Union.

When he refused to send them more money, they teased the man and dared him to call the police.
