Drunken Driver Loses Control; Weed Citations; and FedEx Thief: Crime Blotter

The following was supplied by the North Canton Police Department. It does not indicate convictions.

What could it be?

A North Canton resident called police on April 15 at 2:13 p.m. after someone stole a FedEx package off the front porch of her Everhard Road residence. The thief wasn't caught, but they probably weren't too excited to find a lone bottle of Bissell carpet cleaner inside the box.

On April 13 at 9:34 p.m., an officer watched a motorist strike a light pole in the 100 block of South Main Street and leave the scene. The officer caught up with the driver and pulled him over. After a slew of sobriety tests, it was determined the 44-year-old Nevada resident was intoxicated. He was arrested and charged with drunken driving and hit-skip, both first-degree misdemeanors.

A pair of Acme Fresh Market employees were cited April 10 for possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, both minor misdemeanors, after police caught them with marijuana and a pipe at work.

Slippery thief

An unknown thief strolled into Famous Hair on April 3 and asked to use the restroom. Minutes later, he was caught in the employee locker room and quickly fled. Employees searched their lockers and found that several credit cards and a cell phone had been stolen. An arrest has not yet been made in connection with the incident.

Editor's note: It was previously reported two U.S. Post Office employees were caught smoking marijuana at work. That was incorrect; it was actually a pair of Acme Fresh Market employees.
