Cleaning Woman Accused of Stealing From the Elderly

Lucile A. Ullum of Massillon appeared in Canton Municipal Court for an arraignment hearing Monday on felony theft charges

A cleaning woman accused of stealing from a 93-year-old resident was arraigned on theft charges Monday in Canton Municipal Court.

Lucile A. Ullum, 53, of Massillon, entered pleas of not guilty that day to two felony counts of forgery, both fourth-degree felonies, and one count of theft, a fifth-degree felony, according to Stark County court records. She also entered a plea of not guilty (in a separate case) to theft, a fifth-degree felony.

Judge Stephen F. Belden set Ullum's bond at $5,000 in the first case, and according to court records, Ullum posted bond that day. The bond amount in the second case was $2,500.

The victim's bank had informed her that one of her checks, written for more than $1,000, had bounced, according to the Canton Repository. After that, a Danbury manager called Wednesday, and Ullum was arrested at the Danbury Thursday, the paper reported.
