Canton Rep: Man Dies After 30-Foot Fall From Tree

A 61-year-old tree service owner died after his tree bucket fell 30 feet with him inside

A 61-year-old Louisville-area resident* died Thursday afternoon while trimming a tree on Furbee Avenue SW in North Canton, according to the Canton Repository.

Paul Schneider, of Georgetown Road NE, was pronounced dead in Aultman Hospital’s emergency room, according to a spokesman for County Coroner P.S. Murthy.

The Repository said Schneider, who owns Smedley’s Tree Service in Nimishillen Township, was trimming the tree in an old bucket truck when one of the hydraulic cylinders came loose and caused the bucket to fall at least 30 feet to the ground.

The Occupational Health and Safety Administration and the Bureau of Workers' Compensation are investigating, according to the article.
