Bomb Squad Removes Suspicious Items from North Canton Home

Police say safety measures were in place for residents in the area of Sunford Avenue.

Wednesday afternoon, the North Canton Police Department learned there were suspicious items at a home in the 1100 block of Sunford Avenue and the Summit County Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad Unit was called in to investigate.

According to a statement released by the police department, the current resident found some items they believe were left behind by someone who used to live with her.

The bomb squad unit took the questionable items to an open area on city property that did not pose a risk to residents to examine them further, according to officials.

The Canton Police Department provided a K9 Unit to check the residence and immediate area for other possible items and nothing else was found relating to the initial call.

The items will be examined further to determine what the devices were and an investigation into the matter continues. Safety measures were in place for residents in the area, police said.
