A Patchy Reminder to Be Safe this Weekend

The Highway Patrol is asking people to party responsibly

Here at Patch, we want you to have a safe holiday weekend, which means not getting behind the wheel after you've had a few drinks.

The Highway Patrol will be working with local law enforcement this weekend to snag drunk drivers before something serious happens.

Memorial Day weekend is traditionally a dangerous holiday period on Ohio roads, particularly for impaired driving crashes, a Highway Patrol media release says. Last Memorial Day, six of the 11 people killed on Ohio roadways were involved in alcohol-related crashes.

Troopers will also be looking for drivers who aren't wearing seat belts. If you're caught, you will get a ticket as a part of the Patrol's Click it or Ticket campaign.

If you spot someone you think may be driving under the influence, call 1-800-GRAB-DUI.
