PARTICIPANTS NEEDED FOR AN EXERCISE RESEARCH STUDY AT MALONE UNIVERSITY

Canton, OH – Steve Wirick, Assistant Professor of Exercise Science at Malone University is currently accepting volunteers for an exercise research study to begin January 12, 2014.

 

Volunteers must be aged 18-30 and not currently on a regular planned exercise program. The aim of the program is to provide participants with the necessary skills to become regular exercisers.

Eligible participants will be randomly placed into one of two groups. One group receives a fitness assessment, orientation to the Malone University Wellness Center, a general exercise program, and unlimited free access to Malone’s Wellness Center during normal operating hours throughout the 8 week study. The other group also receives a fitness assessment, orientation to the Malone University Wellness Center, and supervised exercise training sessions plus every Sunday evening for 8 consecutive weeks a 1-hour group exercise behavioral strategy session.

“There is very little research on this age group of emerging adults regarding exercise behaviors and I am very excited to see what we find out” says Steve Wirick.

 

The program is free and open to the public.
