North Canton City Schools

All around us government, businesses and our homes we are working on trimming our budgets.  So naturally, one would think our school district would be looking for ways to maximize their expenditure.

Here is a question I pose to you as a taxpayer in North Canton.  Did you ever notice when we replace a new Administrator, for example, the last three superintendents in North Canton City Schools, they always find some way to hire their people from outside of the district into the district?  They might reply to you, “It is because we want someone with more experience.”  This seems like a reasonable response.

Anyone could accept this response if they did not know the level of education, licensures and experience we have within our own walls of North Canton City Schools.

Here are some facts.  We have some teachers in the district who have licensures as administrators and experience who have been teaching for many years.  With the salary they make, they could be moved into a vacant administrative position and the district could hire two teachers.

In essence, this would allow the district to fill the vacancy of the administrator and also hire two teachers for what it was costing the district to have that one teacher in the classroom.

Before we pass our next levy, let’s think about it and ask the right questions and make sure we are promoting from within our walls.
