Here's What Kent Residents Want Resolved in the Tree City in 2013

What do you think the city of kent's New Year resolution should be? Here's what a few people said on the Kent Patch social media sites.

Based on a few comments from Kent Patch Facebook and Twitter followers, residents want to see parking improved in the Tree City in the New Year.

Kent Patch Facebook and Twitter followers responded to this question just after the New Year: "If you could pick a New Year's resolution for the city of Kent, what would it be and why?"

Here's what they had to say:

"I have two. Get the parking situation stabilized ASAP. Fix the RR crossing on Middlebury Rd. Those tracks have been ridiculous for as long as I can remember."

"Something centered around parking. I work downtown, (Acorn) Alley 2. As you know, there's a collective hope the deck is finished asap — will be good for all."

"I would like to see crosswalks marked with yellow cones & signs that say cars must stop for people, like Hudson."

"I would like to see laws regarding students (off campus) who abandon their cats and dogs at the end of the semester or year. Residents (non-student) do this also. Maybe we can monitor the problem or start a feral cat community."

"Stop catering to Kent State and start fixing things in other parts of the city that are neglected!"

Patch wants to know:

If you could pick a New Year's resolution for the city of Kent, what would it be?

Jim: even if it were only the residents complaining about parking, that would mean there IS a problem. But, we have the City looking for creative parking ideas for businesses they permitted to build here with parking as an afterthought. Its not just about rolling into town every weekend looking for a parking spot. Its people working downtown needing somewhere safe and FREE to park while they work. Downtown Kent isn't much bigger than 3 blocks, so to not be able to find a parking spot within those blocks IS a problem.
