Martha Edeltraud Shimko, 87, formerly of North Canton, passed away Monday at Summerville Medical Center in South Carolina following a short illness.
Shimko was born in Germany, but spent her entire life in the Canton area, except for the last seven years when she lived in Summerville, S.C. with her youngest daughter, Lori, according to tributes.com.
Shimko graduated from McKinley High School, was active in many community organizations and was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in North Canton for 45 years.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Debbie Shimko of Dallas, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Drs. Linda and Dante of Charleston, S.C.; daughter, Lori Shimko of Summerville, S.C.; one sister, Louise Schiffer; one brother, Fred Masuch; and several grand children.
The graveside service will be conducted at 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 11 at Sunset Hills Burial Park in North Canton by Reverend Mark Sherwindt.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Zion Lutheran Church.
