Hard Work & Spirit Come Together for East

Football season is just around the corner, but these girls have been preparing most of the summer!  The cheerleaders of East Football & Cheer range in ages, representing grades 2-7 but they all have one thing in common:  East Spirit!

Head cheer advisor, Heather Wolfe, coordinated an early registration in May which allowed for the girls to "jump" right into practices for summer events.  I asked her to describe what she has been focused on since taking on the challenge this year.

"Above everything else, we are teaching these girls that cheerleading is a sport.  Proper stretching, hydration, and safety are critical for the girls to perform optimally on the field," according to Coach Wolfe.  "We have a very large flag squad this year so this has given the A squad girls a chance to be mentors.  They are like having an extra set of coaches!"

The girls have been practicing since June to learn all of their sideline chants.  This helped prepare them for both the North Canton Jaycees 4th of July parade and game day.

"We are now working on our pom routines for the North Canton Youth Football Preview on August 24th.  These girls have been working hard and I can't wait for them to shine at the preview."
