North Canton Heritage Society annual meeting

The North Canton Heritage Society will celebrate its 40th anniversary at its annual meeting and election of trustees. Speaker for the event will be Will Cooley, assistant professor of history at Walsh University will speak on “Communism and a Company Town: Labor Turbulence at Hoover in the 1940’s,” a detailed look at the Hoover Company strikes of the late 1940s.

In addition to the program, the meeting will be the kickoff of the Society’s “Open the Door to History” fundraising campaign to build a handicapped-accessible entrance to its new museum and office at the Portage Street School, where it will be moving this fall. The Society is asking the public as well as local foundations for contributions to construct new steps and a wheelchair lift at the northeast corner of the Portage building, across Ream Street from the North Canton Public Library.

The annual meeting is open to the public and refreshments will be served.
