Ohio's German Immigration Lecture

   Dr. Timothy Anderson of Ohio University will talk about how Germans came to Ohio in a lecture at the North Canton Library on Tuesday, October 8 at 6:30 p.m.  This lecture is part of the activities surrounding the Smithsonian exhibit "Journey Stories," sponsored by the North Canton Heritage Society.  Dr. Anderson, a professor of Geography, will talk about settlement patterns and why Germans came to be the dominant ethnic group in Ohio during the 19th century.  This is especially applicable to North Canton, which was formerly called New Berlin.
   Dr. Anderson's lecture is part of the Ohio Humanities Council's Speakers Bureau.
   The Smithsonian Institution's Museum on Main Street program and the Ohio Humanities Council are bringing the exhibit "Journey Stories" to North Canton.  The exhibit is on view weekdays from 9 until noon and Saturdays from 1 to 4 p.m.  This lecture is only one of many activities surrounding the exhibit.
