Girls on the Run®, the nationally-acclaimed after school program for girls in 3rd through 8th grade, is getting ready for another amazing season in Stark County! Programs are being offered at Greentown Intermediate, Orchard Hill Intermediate, North Canton Middle School, Portage Collaborative Montessori, and many other locations around Stark County.
Girls on the Run is a 501(c)3 positive youth development program that combines an interactive 10-week curriculum with training for a noncompetitive 5k run/walk to inspire self-respect and healthy lifestyles in pre-teen girls.
Each session is led by trained coaches who guide and mentor girls using activities like running, playing games, and discussing topics such as dealing with body image and the media, resisting peer pressure, making healthy decisions, choosing the right friends, and contributing to the community.
The Girls on the Run program fee includes:
* 20 lessons conducted by certified GOTR® coaches
* Official GOTR program t-shirt
* Water bottle
* Participation in the Girls on the Run 5k on Saturday, June 1, 2013
* 5K race t-shirt
* Snacks after each session
Cost is $125 per girl (scholarships are available to anyone who requests them)
