6 Healthy Habits of Social Media in the Home

Author Adam McLane to Speak: “6 Healthy Habits of Social Media in the Home”

Uniontown, OH – April 21, 2014 – Author, speaker and blogger Adam McLane will speak on the “6 Healthy Habits of Social Media in the Home” on Saturday, May 10 at 10 a.m. at The Chapel’s Green Campus, 1800 Raber Road NW in Uniontown.

McLane, co-author of A Parent’s Guide to Understanding Social Media, helps parents understand kids’ attraction to social media, how they use it differently than adults, what teenagers need to understand, and what parents can do right now in their homes.

Social media articles of McLane’s include topics such as “Why you should delete Snapchat”, “Should I be concerned about Ask.fm?”, and “In social media you are the product.”

McLane is a Partner at The Youth Cartel and Principal at McLane Creative. He and his wife Kristen have been married 16 years and live in the San Diego neighborhood of Rolando with their three children. He studied Youth Ministry at Moody Bible Institute and Youth Ministry Leadership at Huntington University.

“We are finding that parents are desperate for practical and clear advice about social media,” said Happy Peterson, pastor of Family Ministry and High School at The Chapel’s Green Campus. “Some almost ‘give up’ the fight. Our focus is to help parents lead their kids well. Parents are in the best position to influence their children, so this will be a time for practical resourcing and good wisdom.”

Jim Burns, PhD, President of HomeWord calls McLane and Oestreicher’s book his new “go to” book on the ever-changing world of social media and its influence on kids.

Families will have the opportunity for a Q & A session and to enter drawings for door prizes. This event is part of the The Chapel’s Family Map ministry strategy to partner with parents. This event is free and open to the public.
