Week in Review: Did You Miss Any North Canton News?

North Canton police arrested two men Monday after they were found riding in a stolen truck, a housing agency won't buy the Harleigh Inn and lots more

1. — One thing we love at North Canton Patch is learning about new things, whether it’s a new group that’s formed, a new business that’s opened or a new program in the schools. Needless to say, we were pumped to hear about the new North Canton sweets supplier, Queen George’s Cupcakes. Read how Jordan Goos turned her hobby into a career.

2. — ICAN Housing Solutions has backed out of its plan to purchase North Canton’s only hotel, the . Residents had raised concerns about the housing agency’s desire to turn the building into low-income apartments. ICAN told residents and North Canton City Council it wanted to provide a home for veterans, but it could not guarantee only veterans would live there. ICAN told North Canton Patch it will proceed with its plans to provide veterans with housing — just not in North Canton.

3. and — We talked to Ronald E. Steadman, a 37-year veteran of the North Canton Police Department who retired this week. Lt. Steadman was a skilled shooter and had a great sense of humor. See what Steadman’s family had to say in the comment section of the story, too! The day Steadman retired was Michael Grimes’ last day as police chief, and we covered that as well. Grimes now is city administrator.

4. — We talked to a graduate who got to perform Monday night with Max Weinberg, the drummer for Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band. Weinberg performed hits on stage with nine Kent Stark music students inside the University Center.

5. — North Canton police arrested two of three Canton men after they were pulled over early Monday morning. Two men fled, and one of them got away. Police discovered the truck they were driving was reported stolen out of Louisville.
