So, the Lathrop family of North Canton didn't win that 10-day trip to Hawaii, but our viewers sure had fun trying to get them there. We ran a Q&A with Mary Ellen Lathrop in August in which she told us about Embassy Suites' Awkward Family Photo Contest and her family's photo submission — "Summer at the Lake." Months later, we're still chuckling over their family photo.

We had reported in a few police blotters that someone was going around town spray-painting "CHEWY" on buildings. Someone had even asked in our Q&A section, Who was it tagging all these properties in North Canton? We reported in September that police had arrested 21-year-old North Canton resident Ethan M. Kibby for criminal damaging. According to court records, Kibby pleaded no contest to three charges of criminal damaging and was found guilty by Judge John Poulos on all charges. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail on each count, with the sentences running concurrently. All but 15 days were suspended on the condition Kibby stay out of trouble for the next two years.

After Kibby's arrest, a North Canton resident, or residents, sent the North Canton Police Department for arresting the person who had reportedly been vandalizing their city.

Police and FBI officials still are working to get to the bottom of this case. They raided the Carnegie Career College Dec. 19 and confiscated thousands of records from the building at 1320 W. Maple St. in North Canton and the college's main campus at 1292 Waterloo Road in Portage County. This is a story North Canton Patch continues to follow.
