Patch.com's Parent Company, AOL, Buys Huffington Post
Site is one of the fastest-growing Internet properties
We made the announcement on Facebook and Twitter today that Patch.com’s parent company, AOL, will acquire the Huffington Post. The New York Times and other major media outlets have run stories on the big buy and the online world is abuzz with what it might mean for AOL and its affiliates.
North Canton Patch is one of nearly 800 community news sites operated by Patch across the country. The acquisition is likely to have little direct effect on sites like North Canton Patch, but but we’re still waiting to see how everything plays out. My sense is that it only means good things for us.
So we’ll keep bringing you local news as we’ve been doing, but we encourage you to read about this exciting news. Look toward this press release issued by AOL announcing the acquisition. You also can read Arianna Huffington's own words about the acquisition, as she'll serve as president and editor-in-chief of AOL's new division, The Huffington Post Media Group.
