Patch Picks: Local Boutiques

Here's our new feature called Patch Picks, highlighting editor and reader picks of great local businesses, destinations, services, organizations, ways to spend a day off and more.  

You’ll find useful lists to help you, your family, friends and significant others find the best places for everything from Sunday brunch to New Year’s Eve celebrations, pumpkin patches, date night destinations, florists, girls' nights out, kids' party places, parks and more.

Our picks for this week include a list of boutiques in the area that may be useful for you in your shopping adventures.

1. Beautiful by Design Boutique – 7975 Cleveland Ave. NW, North Canton. This shop is located below two hair salons (yes, two salons), which means while you look around at all the jewelry and other items, you could be well on your way to getting your nails done, getting a cut and style or getting a massage. Don’t you wish all boutiques came with those frills? It's actually a part of , featured in , and you enter the boutique through the building's rear entrance. It's open during salon hours and by appointment.

2.  – 441 N. Main St., North Canton. So maybe the best word for Chestnut Hill isn’t “boutique,” but the place is so cool we had to include it in this roundup. The charming green building is filled with trinkets, home decor and jewelry. The interesting lamps, in our opinion, make this a destination spot for those hoping to find something unique for their homes. Owner Beth Bauman, who also works for , is happy to help customers find exactly what suits them best. Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

3.  – 2208 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls. Cuyahoga Falls Patch describes this location as a Victorian-era shop full of period clothing and accessories, including a large selection of costume and fine jewelry, furs and hats. It also has Victorian and 1950s designer purses — some of those reptile skin. Hours are noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

4. Avenue Antiques – 3400 Cleveland Ave. NW, Canton. This place — located in the “Milk & Honey” building in Canton — buys, sells and consigns antiques and also has vintage costume jewelry, vintage clothing, glassware, pottery and a whole lot more. It can even sell your items over eBay for you. It’s open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

5.  – 2206 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls. The Hidden Pearl, right beside , is bursting with vintage hats, purses, coats and other clothes. It’s got vintage jewelry, including Victorian style. According to Cuyahoga Falls Patch, the shop offers both fine and costume pieces from every time period and for every level of collector. Shoppers come from all over Ohio to purchase items in person, as it has been deemed one of the best shops of its kind in the Cleveland area. Out-of-state shoppers use the store's website, hiddenpearlvintage.com. Hours are noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, noon to 7 p.m. Wednesday and Friday, and 1 p.m. t0 5 p.m. Sunday.
