Cause of Microtel Hotel Fire Remains Undetermined

The fire started in a mulch bed at the north end of the building and traveled up to the attic, fire officials say

Investigators were unable to determine the cause of that caused severe damages to the May 25.

Jackson Township fire officials say the fire started in a mulch bed on building's north side and traveled up the area between the interior stairwell wall and main exterior wall. That caused the fire to spread to the attic area.

Structural damages are estimated at $2 million, while damages for contents are estimated at $200,000.

The Jackson Township Fire Department Fire Prevention Bureau worked alongside the State of Ohio Fire Marshals’ Fire and Explosion Unit in investigating the fire.   

Jackson Township fire officials ask that any witnesses with photographs or video prior to the fire department's arrival call the Jackson Fire Prevention Bureau at 330-834-3953.
