LOOK: Dogwood Pool Gets Spruced Up

The city-owned pool has some upgrades this year — new chairs, new siding for the lifeguard office, flowers and cement work. It's ready for its official opening day Saturday.

is looking a little more lively nowadays, with flowers around the pool, new lounge chairs and adirondack chairs and new siding on the lifeguard office.

The city did a lot of sprucing up in time to open the pool for Memorial Day weekend, and, after having the pool closed for a week, is ready to open it officially Saturday.

Pool-goers are going to see a lifeguard office with new paneling and hanging flower baskets, new chairs, concrete work, warmer water temperatures and other improvements.

"It's basically small stuff that makes a huge impact for our residents," said Jim Davis said, superintendent of utilities, service and recreation.

I'm glad to see the updates! It would be great if they could do some improvements in the restrooms / locker areas.

Hey, Holly! I gave Jim Davis a call about this. It looks like there were some issues when they first opened the pool this year, but they cleaned out the septic lines last week and everything should be fine now. Sounds like they're looking into why the toilets get backed up (was that the issue you're referring to?). They're not sure if it's because people are flushing things they shouldn't be flushing or some other reason.
