High-Speed Pursuit Ends in Crash, Arrest

Police say Zachary L. McKinney, 21, of Canton, led them on a high-speed chase into Canton, where McKinney crashed his car and was arrested

arrested a 21-year-old Canton man who led them and Ohio Highway Patrol troopers on a high-speed chase through the city early this morning.

Here's the account police give: Zachary L. McKinney was speeding in a Toyota Camry southbound in the 1400 block of South Main Street in North Canton about 3 a.m. today.

McKinney didn't pull over when police turned on their sirens and he continued driving south, out of the city on Cleveland Avenue NW.

An Ohio Highway Patrol trooper, who had seen the pursuit from the 4400 block of Cleveland Avenue NW, helped in the pursuit until McKinney lost control of his car and crashed in the 2300 block of 38th Street NW in Canton.

There were no injuries reported and only minor damage to the McKinney's car.

McKinney was charged with failure to comply with the order of a police officer, a third-degree felony, and reckless operation and speeding, both minor misdemeanors. 

He was later booked into the Stark County Jail.
