1. Watch the Hitmen of North Canton perform

Why Go: Where else can you get a stiff martini and stellar meatloaf before seeing a live band play? If you ask nicely, maybe this classic rock band will play some Tom Petty for you.

2. Peruse some art at Canton First Friday while helping someone who’s down and out
Where/When: Downtown Canton; 6 p.m.-10 p.m. Friday
Why Go: Canton First Friday’s “Art from the Heart” event is well worth the drive into Canton. Many artists will give the proceeds from their sales to Ken (KC) Carter, who recently lost his glass studio and pets to a warehouse fire. There also will be live music, food and street performers.

3. Stop by the North Canton Rotary’s 16th Annual Chili Open Golf Classic
Where/When: ; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday
Why Go: Golfing in the snow? Hello, what’s more ridiculous? Plus, it’s to benefit the Rotary Club. Want more info? Craig Haueter recently wrote about the event. .

4. Listen to live music and try a new beer at the Barrel Room
Where/When: The Barrel Room Wine and Beer Bar, 7901 N. Cleveland Ave.; 9 p.m.-midnight Friday with LD the DJ and 9 p.m.-midnight Saturday with John Stipe.
Why Go: For one, if you love IPA, this is the place to be. The Barrel Room just got in two new IPAs — Bell's Two Hearted IPA and Troegs' Nugget Nectar Imperial Amber. Both are $5 for a 12-ounce bottle.

5. Cafe Night at the Y
Where/When: ; 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Friday
Why Go: It’s open mic night, so imagine your youngster with free rein on a mic and a room full of people. We’re giggling just thinking about it.
